Welcome to the website of the Beta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, celebrating 116 years at The Ohio State University.

ATO was founded in 1865 by three Confederate Civil War cadets. The goal of Alpha Tau Omega was to help unite men of both Northern and Southern descent in peace. ATO is based on Christian rather than Greek principles. Through the years ATO has initiated over 225,000 people around the world. Currently Alpha Tau Omega has over 160 chapters in the United States. This year, 2008, ATO marks 116 years on the campus The Ohio State University, excelling in areas such as brotherhood, academics, athletics, service, and leadership. Brother Bross Elected VP of OUAB

Brother Bross was elected as Ohio Union Activities Board Vice President and his training has just begun. OUAB boasts a budget of over $1.5 million a year and has been recognized as the top college event planning organization in the nation. Beta Omega has never before had a presence on the executive board of the organization and we’re very proud of brother Bross’ ambition. It is worthwhile to note that brother Flowers has also been accepted into OUAB and has made strides to join the executive board as well.

Improved Chapter GPA

Last Quarter, with a Quarterly GPA of 3.29, our chapter was the Third Highest Fraternity on campus. This quarter, our goal is to get a 3.39. We believe in raising the bar to meet every challenge. The leading fraternity received a 3.39 last quarter- if we achieve this, we will at the very least tie their GPA from last quarter. Having the highest IFC GPA has always been a long standing goal of our fraternity. Since we are so close, we are setting a prize for the chapter if we receive a 3.39 or above. The prize will most likely be a new plasma tv- or Rock Band for the house. Another option might be to take a camping trip in the fall as a group.

Alumni Newsletter

We are preparing to send out our first Alumni Newsletter for the Spring Quarter. Many of the Alumni are very excited to receive information from Beta Omega. There is also our founders day coming up soon, and many of the Alumni have shown a great response to the Founders Day activities. They are excited to be able to come back to campus, and see how much we have grown. The Alumni always seem interested in any informaiton / activities of our chapter- it is always a matter of reaching out to them!!

Increasing Numbers And Quality

With giving out 20 bids this spring quarter, this brings our numbers to 94 members of ATO. At this time last year, we only had 50. This is an outstanding improvement. It was even more impressive that we were able to reach the numbers be using the “recruit” not “rush” strategy that we have created. Every single one of the members is voted on 3 times prior to initiation, and were “Selected” to come to recruitment- rather than allowed to Rush openly. It is extremely exciting that we have grown while holding our values and repurtation to the highest standards.

To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself, and as lasting as humanity; to know no north, no south, no east, no west, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach not politics, but morals; to foster not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world; these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
