Every Wednesday the Beta Omega Chapter has reserved the basketball courts at Jesse Owens North, a student recreation facility, from 9:00pm until 10:00pm. The activity has spurred a new sense of brotherly love as the tau vs. tau atmosphere captures competition at its finest. More and more brothers have been attending the weekly event, and it has become a tradition for brothers to share the past week’s game summary during Chapter. It has become one of the greatest opportunities for all brothers to get to know one another and provides another event that occurs weekly where brothers can hang out together without the formal atmosphere at Chapter. The event has even ignited the creative skills of John Luhrsen who has begun the first ever “Alpha Male Competition.” The tournament continues throughout the quarter and besides earning points at the weekly basketball sessions, brothers are able to earn points durning special events. One such opportunity is a tournament being held during the Brotherhood Retreat during which bonus points will be given to all competitors as well as points awarded to the tournament champions. As you can see, this event as been a great addition to the Brotherhood list of events and has even given rise to a Chapter wide competition.

To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself, and as lasting as humanity; to know no north, no south, no east, no west, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach not politics, but morals; to foster not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world; these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
